TB Diagnostics

A potentially promising technology to diagnose tuberculosis, developed by Texas A&M Health Science Center School of Medicine, with support from Texas A&M University and Stanford University.

The basic research was funded through a $2.1 million grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

The initial product to be developed from the technology is a rapid, low cost, high volume, scalable TB Diagnostic Assay that meets the WHO’s requirements.

Road Stabilization

The vast majority of roads in Qatar are currently constructed without stabilization of the subgrade layer.

Due to the loose nature of the subgrade material, such layers are susceptible to deformation and shifting.

The need for better and long lasting roads in Qatar is more pressing than ever before due to the growth in transportation infrastructure including the roadway network.

Research has been undertaken at TAMUQ on the application of polymers for pavement subgrade stabilization and tests their efficacy under the soil and weather conditions prevalent in Qatar.

This project further aims to evaluate the commercial potential of this novel stabilization method by comparing its performance with the conventional treatment methods both in terms of enhanced engineering properties as well as the economic viability. It is a QSTP-funded Proof of Concept project.
