Admissions

How do I apply for the Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Program?

Is there an application fee?
There is no fee for applying to the Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Program.

What are the admissions requirements?
It is highly preferred to have a university degree.
The program is taught in English, so a good command of English is essential.
You will need to be able to be in Doha to attend the modules and participate in the teamwork committing to course work at least 10 hours per week outside of the classroom. Since the class size is limited, there will be a competitive selection process. We select candidates on the above requirements, plus on their motivation and work experience. Candidates must successfully pass the personal interview and show interest, integrity, motivation, commitment and willingness to learn.

Is the Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Program open to participants from outside Qatar?
Yes, but students are required to be physically present in Qatar during the 8-month period of the program.

How long does it take to process my application?
The Admissions Committee will start reviewing applications four months before the program start date. Notifications of acceptance to the program will be made via email.

How do I check the status of my application?
To check the status of a current application, contact the program coordinator by email tiep@qstp.org.qa

When will I receive the program information?
Approximately 2 weeks prior to the start of the program, you will receive a packet of preliminary information, including a detailed schedule, case readings, and assignments for the first few days of the program.

If I am not accepted into this year’s Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Program, can I apply again for a future session?
Admission is competitive, as class size is limited. We try to ensure that each program includes participants from different industries and backgrounds. For those reasons, we do encourage you to re-apply in the future.

Payments

What is the program fee?
The total fees for the Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Program are US$12,000, or QAR 43,800. The fees are payable in 4 installments throughout the course period.
Once you are accepted in the program, you can apply for a scholarship from Qatar Science & Technology Park. If you receive the scholarship, you will be entitled to a waiver of the tuition fee. Scholarships numbers are limited and will be subject to a separate scholarship process subsequent to your acceptance on the program. Commitment toward the projects and course deliverables are the main conditions for maintaining a scholarship. QSTP maintains the right to withdraw a scholarship if a participant does not meet expectations.

What is included in the program fee?
The program fee includes tuition, printed readers and case studies, and food and beverages served. The fees also include the costs for the books on the reading list.

What are the estimated costs for reading materials?
TIEP will order the required texts books for the students, and distribute them in class. The costs are estimated at US$219/QAR 800 for the whole program.

When is payment due?
The program fees are payable in 4 installments. Payment of the first installment is due within 30 days of the invoice date or upon receipt of the invoice if admission is within 30 days prior to the start of the Program. A place on the program is not guaranteed until the first installment has been paid. The other installments are due by each course starting date.

What types of payment are accepted?
Payments can be made by (company) check or by electronic bank transfer. Payments can also be made in cash at the Qatar Foundation finance directorate. Information regarding payment by bank wire transfer will be included with your invoice.

What is the cancellation policy?

Cancellations must be submitted one month prior to the program start date to receive a full refund. Any dropouts during the program will forfeit the program fee terms that have been paid up until that point.

Is financial aid available?
Once you are accepted in the program, you can apply for a scholarship from Qatar Science & Technology Park. If you receive the scholarship, you will be entitled to a waiver of the tuition fee. Scholarships numbers are limited and will be subject to a separate scholarship process subsequent to your acceptance on the program. Program Details

How are the courses taught?
TIEP offers lectures, workshops, case studies, and practical, real-world projects to teach the skills and processes necessary for bringing innovations to market. Participants learn collaboratively through working with their teams, by sharing experiences with other participants during workshop meetings, and from personal interaction with experienced entrepreneurs who serve as senior management for each team.

What is the usual class size?
Classes have between 20-30 students.

How much time can I expect to spend on coursework?
Average of 10-15 hours per week in addition to the arranged sessions of each module.

How are students assessed?
Students are assessed on: attendance, contribution to class discussion, and contribution to team project assignments. These assignments consist of presentations, practical activities, case study analysis, written reports, plans and proposals. There are no written exams.

Where do the Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Program classes take place?
All classes take place in Qatar Science & Technology Park, Doha, Qatar.

Do I earn college credit for attending the Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Program?
The Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Program is a non-degree program. Upon completion of the program, certificates from Qatar Science & Technology Park are awarded to participants.

What is the frequency of the Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Program?
The Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Program is conducted once a year, starting each fall and running until late spring.
